Our collection includes a wealth of photographic and documentary history pertaining to a variety of topics. Our records include family history information as well as local government, schools, churches, social organization photos and records.
At Historical Society of Marshall County, we are happy to assist with all types of local historical and genealogical research. Free use of our research library is available to visitors, however if you want us to research for you, we charge $10 per hour plus any document costs.

The CIGS collection is housed in the Frances Rhoades Williams Library at the Historical Museum. The collection covers published family histories, county histories, census, cemetery records, ships' passenger lists and other society publications. The collection also includes material from all over the United States. The CIGS collection is available 9am-3pm Monday through Friday and 10am-2pm on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, except holidays. Our collection includes a variety of materials on local topics, and also by local authors. We have yearbooks, town and church histories, city directories and personal memorabilia. We also have a material about other counties, Iowa history, Civil War history, and general historical topics.
